Wanda Lea (Mackey) Cox, dearly loved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, age 92 of Ava, Missouri, passed away Monday, August 7, 2023, at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, Missouri. Wanda was born May 29, 1931, in Rome, Missouri, the daughter of Lee and Jewel Mackey. On June 6, 1952, she was united in marriage to Ray Elmo Cox in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
Wanda graduated from Ava High school in Ava, Missouri in 1949. She enjoyed working at Katz drug store in Kansas City, Ava Department Store in Ava and especially enjoyed being a homemaker and Mother. Wanda loved hand quilting, farming, gardening and cooking. She was a devoted Christian, who was saved and followed by baptism in 1968. Wanda also taught Sunday school and loved to sing and share her beautiful alto voice.
Wanda is survived by her daughter Connie Taylor and husband Robert; two sisters Ann Ellison and Bonnie Sallee, two brothers Bill Mackey and Glen Mackey and wife Lyndia; several nieces and nephews; one granddaughter Candy Timberlake husband Clark; three great-grandchildren Brenden Hood wife Autumn, Matthew and Madalyn Timberlake; one great-great-grandson Waylon Hood. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse and five siblings. Wanda will be greatly missed by everyone that knows her.
Graveside funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 10, 2023, in Burdett Cemetery, Ava, Missouri. The visitation will be 5:00 to 6:00 P.M. Wednesday evening, in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, Missouri. Online condolences maybe shared at www.barnesfamilyfunerals,com
