Richard Grove June 2, 1935 - June 25, 2021

William “Richard” Grove, age 86 of Oldfield, Missouri passed away Friday, June 25, 2021 in Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Missouri. Richard, as he was fondly known by his friends and family, was born June 2, 1935 the son of Charles V. and Gussie (Starbuck) Grove. On July 8, 1966, he was united in marriage to Bertha Cox and together they would have soon celebrated 56 years of marriage.

Richard was a longtime Christian County resident and enjoy his life surrounded by his family. He was a faithful member of Oldfield Church of Christ and attended regularly his entire life. During 1958 through 1961, Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Military Policeman and later received an honorable discharge. Richard was a dedicated employee and retired after many years from Conco Concrete Company. During his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with family and friends and also loved visiting with everyone because he never met a stranger. Richard was talented with his hands and blessed with the ability to “fix” anything with a motor. His outgoing personality led him to many longtime friendships and lasting memories. Richard valued his favorite times spent with his grandsons and enjoyed good food, especially ice cream.

Richard is survived by his wife Bertha; two daughters Rhonda Collins and Steve , Amy VanHouden and Jason all of Oldfield; two grandsons Jaryd Collins and Jaron VanHouden; sisters-in-law Gerry Robertson and Dennis, Julie Gillham and Sam, Debbie Hutchinson; his very special adopted granddaughter Tori Vaughan; several nieces, nephews and many special friends. In addition to his parents, Richard is also preceded in death by a brother, two sisters, two brothers-in-law, his best friend Tod Walker, and a grandson Jacob VanHouden.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday evening, June 28, 2021 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, Missouri. Graveside funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, June 29, 2021 in Oldfield Cemetery with full military honors. Online condolences may be shared at www.barnesfamilyfunerals.com.
