Robert Gene White November 6, 1929 - March 7, 2019

Robert “Gene” White was born November 6, 1929 in West Plains, Missouri, the son of Napoleon Eddington and Ethel “Bussell” White. He departed this life Thursday, March 7, 2019 in Sparta, Missouri at the age of 89 years. Gene was the seventh child of eight siblings including Harry, Thelma, Leroy, Maureen, June, twin brother Dean, and Betty.

Gene was drafted into the United States Army in 1951and served during the Korean conflict. Following his honorable discharge from the Army in 1952 he moved to Olathe, Kansas.

In 1969 he was a police reserve officer in Olathe, Kansas. Gene worked for General Motors in Olathe, Kansas, then in Arlington, Texas. Upon returning to Olathe he worked assembly line at GM, then worked in quality control at Delco, retiring April 1, 1982.

Gene had a strong faith and work ethic and was a dedicated family man. He was a good Christian family man and a member of Union Hill Church. He enjoyed gospel and blue grass music and visiting with friends and family. His smile and love of life were a blessing to many. He is and always will be loved and respected by many. Gene inspired all those with whom he came in contact.

He is survived by his wife Betty Luttrull-Schweppe White of Sparta, his children Randy (Luanna) White of Ozark, Brenda (John) Bunker of Kansas City,  Mike White of Springfield, Mark (Missy) White of Navarre, Florida, step-son R.D. (Kathy) Schweppe of Sparta and Gregg (Beverly) Schweppe of Blue Springs; son-in-law Bruce Boan, Gardner, Kansas; his grandchildren,  great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Leese Marie Boan and his three brothers and four sisters.

Gene will be dearly missed by his nieces and nephews that loved him and considered him to be more like a father than an uncle.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 12, 2019 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, Missouri with Pastor Bally Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Smart Cemetery, Clever, Missouri. Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 12, 2019 in the funeral home.     So very sorry. He has been a mainstay of our family for as long as I can remember. Much loved and respected by us all. He will be greatly missed..here..but we will see him soon in heaven where he joins his siblings for a great celebration at his homecoming.

    Grandma Betty I’m so sorry for our loss. Thank you so much to you and your family for taking such good care of my grandpa. I love him so much he was truly the most loving caring man I ever knew, I miss him so much. I wish I could have told him one more time how much I truly loved him. Now it’s time for him to Rest In Peace. I love you Grandma
