Robert Jackson April 29, 1940 - November 29, 2021

Robert (Bob) Jackson, age 81 of Galena, Missouri located near Branson, passed away peacefully, Monday afternoon, November 29, 2021 at his home with his family and loved ones by his side. He was born in Thomaston, Alabama, April 29, 1940 the son of Ben Jackson and Marion (Adair) Jackson.  He was united in marriage to Betty Lowe on November 2, 1962. They were blessed with a son John Robert Jackson on August 12, 1963 and a daughter Janet Lee Jackson on April 28, 1965.

Bob was a strong hard-working man who provided well for his family and loved them dearly.  He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin.  Bob  proudly served in the United States Army with three tours in Germany for 10 ½ years total and one year in Vietnam and other additional duty stations. In 1979, he retired after 22 years of service. Bob moved to Granite City, Illinois, home of his wife, and went to work at GC Steel and later retired, after 22 dedicated years.

During his years in Illinois, Bob loved riding his Harley Motorcycles while he and Betty toured and finished visiting all 50 States. While living in Germany they traveled to 14 different countries. After they both retired, they moved to Galena on Table Rock Lake, meeting many new friends. They enjoyed fishing, boating, cruising on the lake, and enjoyed watching their children and grandchildren ride on the WaveRunners.

Bob was preceded in death by his father Ben Jackson, his mother Marion Jackson Carr and a granddaughter Dakota, wife of Keith Gamblin, currently in the United States Navy.

Bob is survived by his loving wife Betty; son John Jackson Sr and fiancé Barb Massey of Galena, Missouri; daughter Janet Eck and husband Mark of Collinsville, Illinois; three grandchildren John Jackson Jr, of Galena, Missouri, Mason and Travis Eck of Collinsville, Illinois; brother Samuel Jackson of Crestview, Florida; sister Joy Higgins and husband John of Galena, Missouri.  Many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and a special cousin/sister Pat Hanshew.

Bob will be dearly missed by family and friends including all the military friends he made over the years.  His memory will live on forever in the hearts he has touched.

Funeral services for Bob will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 6, 2021 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark. Burial will follow at 1:00 P.M. at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield with full military honors. Cemetery escort and flag line honors were provided by Warriors’ Watch Riders Motorcycle Team.  Visitation will be 10:00 A.M. Monday until service time in the funeral home.     Our deepest condolences in the loss of Bob. God bless you, Betty, Sissy, Johnny and the entire family as you adjust to life without his immediate presence, though he will always be nearby in spirit and in the many amazing, precious memories.     Prayers for family and friends… Bob meant so much to so many. I will miss his sense of humor.
    I have fond memories of him down on the river and at all the family reunions. He may be gone but will not forgotten.
