Alvin Lorel Barnes, age 71 of Ava, Missouri, was born December 27, 1949, to Lorel and Mary (Bloomer) Barnes. Alvin grew up with his seven siblings, Leland, Doyle, Neal, Charlene, Lila, Alesia and Marilyn in the Plainview area and moved to Ava during his high school year. Alvin played sports as an Ava Bear until he graduated Ava High School in 1967. Alvin served in the United States Army, as a Radio Operator and was later called up to support the Vietnam War. He completed his tour of service in 1971 and returned to Ava to be united in marriage to the California native, Kandy (Hennen) Barnes, on August 28, 1971. From this union four wonderful children were introduced into this world, Brian, Michael, DiAnne, and Adam.
Alvin was employed in the heating/air conditioning field and was also skilled as a plumber and electrician. He was employed for Marvin Barnes Inc. for many years, until he and his brothers partnered with Leland, at Leland Barnes Inc. They serviced the Ava and surrounding area for all their HVAC and plumbing needs. Day or night, he received calls from the community with an emergency, and day or night he would go, until their services were restored. No man was more loyal to his work passion or the community!
Alvin was a fan of both St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs teams. He loved to hunt, fish, and play softball (in his prime). He also enjoyed reading, especially Louis L’Amour books, playing cribbage, shooting pool and loved to play cards. As his kids grew, he loved coaching his boys in the Summer and traveling with the baseball league. Proud to say, he never had a losing season. Alvin was loved by his eleven grandchildren Madeline, Mallory, Miley, Eric, Braden, Mackenzie, Conor, Cooper, Gracie, Sean, and Myrtle. In addition to his grandchildren, Alvin is survived by two brothers Leland Barnes and wife Nancy, Doyle Barnes and wife Rosie; three sisters Alesia King and husband Steve, Lila Frye and husband Bill and Marilyn Barnes Renee; his wife Kandy Hennan Barnes; his children Mike Barnes and wife Rachel, DiAnne Barnes Wycka, Adam Barnes and wife Stephanie. Alvin will be missed by all his entire family, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents Lorel and Mary (Bloomer) Barnes, brother Neal Barnes, sister Charlene Parker Barnes, brother-in-law Jim Renee, cousin Gail Barnes, and his son Brian Barnes.
Alvin passed away Friday, November 26, 2021, in his home and surround by his wife and daughter. Alvin donated his body to science, for the purpose of study and the effects of smoking, as well as the continued research of Agent Orange. A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date and time. Online condolences maybe shared at www.barnesfamilyfunerals.com
