Ronald E. Gafford, at 89 years of age went to meet the Lord on February 8, 2025. He was born on January 18,1936 in Corning, Kansas and was a loving husband, father and faithful steward of his faith. Ronald E. Gafford and Melva A. Carmichael were married on September 26, 1955.
He was a member of Countryside Christian Church in Ozark, Missouri for nearly 3 decades. He is survived by his lovely bride of 69 years, Melva A. (Carmichael) Gafford , three daughters and their husbands, Vicki and David Young, Tracy and Jack Upton, Carolyn and John Wall and four granddaughters, Kathryn Wall and her fiancé Ryan Odle, Rebekkah Wall and her fiancé Gabriel Saenz, Samantha Young and her husband Benjamin Blue, Andrea Young, his brother Roger Gafford and sister Jeanette Kroemer.
Ron served in the military for 20 years, beginning in the Navy and then transferring to the Air Force retiring with the rank of MSGT. He had varied and successful careers in building homes, owning his own business and as a postal worker on a rural route. He loved fishing, camping and woodworking. Among the family’s prized possessions are the pieces he built. His greatest passion was taking care of family. No task was too great nor too small for him to drop everything and lend a hand. At this time of our immeasurable loss, we celebrate, honor and are grateful for the man who always put family first. As we take this moment to remember how much we loved him, we can hear his reply “Love you too Babe”.
Funeral services for Ron will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, February 20, 2025 at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri with full military honors.
