Scott Mills, 71, of Fremont Hills, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Cox South Hospital. Scott was born in Springfield, Missouri, the son of Ray and Pat Mills and lived most of his life in the Ozark area. Scott was a graduate of Sparta High School and Southwest Missouri State University, obtaining a Masters Degree in Education and Specialist Degree in Education. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, being honorably discharged with the rank of Lieutenant. He started his career with the Ozark School district in 1970 as a history teacher, then became principal of Ozark High School. He held the position of Superintendent until the end of his educational career. After his tenure at Ozark School District, he was a successful businessman up until the time of his death. Scott was a scholar and loved to read. He studied military history including the Civil War. His biggest passion was golf and was a longtime member of Fremont Hills Country Club. He loved to play golf with his friends and frequently traveled to golf tournaments. Scott is survived by his wife of thirty years, Linda. He is also survived by his children, Greg Mills and wife Barbie of Canton, Illinois and his daughter Jessica Howald and husband Jesse of Ozark. He is also survived by his brother Barry Mills and wife Aliene of Fremont Hills, sister Kathie Stutesmun and husband Leon of Ozark, Kandy Bloomer and husband Roger of Ava; stepsons Brandon Stafford of Ozark and Shane Stafford of Nixa; 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Bruce Mills. A celebration of life will take place at Fremont Hills Country Club Friday, January 5, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Scott’s family request in lieu of flowers please make a donation to the charity of your choice to honor Scott.     I will miss seeing Scott sitting at the table holding court on Saturday and Sunday after the round. Always seemed to have a smile on his face. Sorry for your loss.
