Donald Dean (Don) Beason , age 76, Ava, Missouri, passed away to his heavenly home on Wednesday December 17, 2014, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, surrounded by his family. Don was born on May 7, 1938, at Girdner, Missouri, the son of Harve and Roxie (Norris) Beason. On June 7, 1959, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Frances Cox. She preceded him in death on March 24, 2004. Don was a lifelong resident of Douglas County. He was a graduate of Ava High School class of 1956, and attended college at Missouri State in Springfield, Missouri. He began working for Rawlings Sporting Goods in Ava, Missouri in the early Sixties and retired after 30 plus years as a department supervisor. Following his retirement Don continued farming along with his son, continuing to raise Angus cattle in the same tradition that he was taught by his father Harve. Don loved his family and spent many selfless hours helping to care for his ailing mother-in-law, whom he often referred to as his second mother. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. Most of all, his greatest joy in life was spending time with his kids and grandkids and making memories that will last their lifetime. In addition to his wife Mary, he was preceded by his parents, brother Claude Beason, sisters; Audrey Tando, Susie Miller, and Wanda King. Don is survived by his son, John Beason, daughters, Debbie Willis and husband Bill, Patti Chamberlain and husband Greg; Grandchildren, Brandon Reed and wife Summar, Ryan Chamberlain and wife Rebecca, Reagan Hendricks and husband Ace; Great-grandchildren, Gavin and Blake Reed, Isabelle and Finn Chamberlain, Zachy Hendricks; Brothers, Tom Beason and Carl Beason, Sisters, Corrine Ellison and June Tetrick. The family wishes to extend a special “Thank You” to those who became First Responders in a time of need. Funeral services for Don will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 20, 2014 in Ava Assembly of God Church, with burial in Mt. Tabor Cemetery West of Ava. Visitation will be 1:00 pm until service time in the church chapel. Officiating will be pastor Buddy Boyd. Memorials may be made to Mt Tabor Cemetery Fund.
