John Harold Essick , age 65 of Chadwick, Missouri passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014, in Cox South Hospital. He was born May 23, 1949 in Ozark, the son of Clyde and Sylvia (Schroeder) Essick. On September 22, 1967 John was united in marriage to Shirley Loomis and to this union three children were born. John was a longtime resident of Christian County who enjoyed building homes all over the county and working construction most of his life. John’s favorite pass-time was making his yard look nice and he was very proud of his gardens. Through the years his hobbies consisted of covered wagon rides with the Wagon-Ho Club, driving dune buggies with the Mark Twain Ridge Runners, going to the lake on his pontoon boat and his latest hobby was riding his side by side on the Glade Top Trail. John is survived by his wife, Shirley; three children and their spouses Curtis and Amber Essick of Oldfield, David and Mindy Essick of Rogersville, Tracie and Derek Zacha of Chadwick; seven grandchildren Justin Gentile of Ozark and Tessa (Joey) Kelly of El Paso, TX, Shelby Essick of Rogersville, Connor Zacha, Brittani and Jamie Bruton of Chadwick; one great-grandson Cole Gentile; five brothers Earl Essick, Frank Essick, Merl (Nola) Essick, Darrell and (Joan) Essick all of Ozark, Bill (Jane) Essick of Cape Fair; three sisters Alice (Stanley) Whitlock of Nixa, June (Gary) King of Cape Fair, Bette (Ed) Latta of Ozark; several nieces, nephews, other caring relatives and many good friends. Funeral Services will be 2:00pm Wednesday, June 11, 2014 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark with Pastor Bally Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Chadwick Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8:00pm Tuesday June 10, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers please donate to Relay for Life Christian County, John’s Dears RaceTeam.
