Barnes Family Funerals - Karen Scheel

Karen Scheel, age 72 of Fremont Hills, passed away in her home Christmas evening, Sunday, December 25, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 12, 1944 the daughter of Louie and Cathryn Warren. On June 26, 1983 Karen was united in marriage to Gary Scheel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Karen was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister and loyal friend. She enjoyed sharing her clerical position with O and S Trucking and was a fun participant with her Bunco groups. Karen will be remembered as a beautiful lady whose capacity for love and kindness was fitting for her quick wit and funny personality. Karen was also a resilient survivor, her small body was battered by four different cancers for the past 20 years. During her battle, Karen never had the poor me attitude and her spirit was never diminished. She repeatedly soared above her circumstances with gratitude for all things being accepted and being as good as they were. Karen set the example of strength for many, an example of love, acceptance and encourager for others. Karen will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. In addition to her husband Gary, Karen is survived by her daughter Heather Long and husband Phil; step-daughter Lori Scheel; step-son Rodney Scheel; sister Janet Barnhouse and husband Rick; sister-in-law Donna Scheel; four grandchildren Kaitlyn Long, Kristie Kreider, J.D. Kreider and Jackson Wren; two great-grandchildren Marcella and Logan Youngmon; two nephews Torrey and Jason Barnhouse; other caring relatives, good neighbors and friends. Karen was preceded in death by her parents. Celebration of Life services will be 6:00 P.M. Thursday, December 29, 2016 in Cassidy United Methodist Church with Rev. Charlene Dart officiating services. Visitation will follow the services in the church fellowship hall. Online condolences may be shared at www.barnesfamilyfunerals.com.

Gary, I am so very, very sorry for your loss. Karen did so well all these years. I was only around her 2-3 times, but, I never would have known she was fighting something. She was always smiling! I pray that you find peace in God’s loving arms and strength for each day during this most difficult time. Prayers for the rest of yours and her family as well. Hugs
