William Buchek June 6, 1927 - December 31, 2016

William F. Buchek, age 89 of Springfield, Missouri passed away peacefully in his home, Saturday, December 31, 2016. He was born June 6, 1927 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. William retired from International Paper Company after 45 years as a dedicated employee. After his retirement and during the year of 2000, William moved to the Ozarks to be near his son and family. He was fondly known as “Pop” and always appreciative of the love and care of his family, he was quoted as saying “these things don’t go down unforgotten.” Pop enjoyed doing work outdoors and diligently maintained every aspect of his home until his health failed. His “treasures” he passed on to his grandchildren are all in mint condition, which brings back memories of him saying …”It’s the top of the line.” William also proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. William was a devoted husband of 67 years to his wife, Miss Frances and an ever present grandfather. In addition to his wife, William is also survived by his granddaughter Jennifer Edwards and husband Tom of Ozark; grandson Jason Buchek and wife Deamber Brand of Springfield; granddaughter Tong Sheng of Ozark; three great-granddaughters Katelyn, Lucy and Lily. William was preceded in death by his son William Gene Buchek and his parents. Cremation services are under the care and direction of Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark.
