Kayla Richelle Petrus, age 28 of Springfield, Missouri passed away suddenly, Monday, September 26, 2022. She was born September 11, 1994, in Springfield, Missouri the daughter of Mindi Blackston and Matthew Petrus.
Kayla was truly a beautiful soul who loved her family and many friends. She was known for being kind, caring, considerate and a very outgoing girl, who could light up a room with her beautiful smile. Kayla loved children, pizza, animals and was affectionately loved by her large family. Kayla owned three furry cats, loved to work with animals and hoped to one day become a veterinarian. Kayla will be sadly missed but her loving memory will live on in the hearts of her wonderful family forever.
Kayla is survived by her mother Mindi Blackston; her father Matthew Petrus and his wife Sunshine; paternal grandparents Edward and Jeanie Petrus; maternal grandmother Janie Blackston; uncle Russell Soto and wife Lisa; aunt Laura Eades; uncle Marvin Blackston and wife Shari; aunt Tara and husband Robert; aunt Shelly Blackston; uncle Joey and wife Misty; several cousins and numerous other caring relatives. Kayla was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Robert Blackston and maternal grandmother Maureen Putman.
Celebration of Life Services for Kayla will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 29, 2022 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, Missouri. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Online condolences may be shared at www.barnesfamilyfunerals.com.
