Barnes Family Funerals - Lula Mae Chastain

Written by Lula Mae

Lula Mae Chastain, age 67 of Nixa, Missouri, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2013 in Cox Medical Center of Branson. She was born October 29, 1946 in Black Rock, Arkansas the daughter of Lester and Faye Ellen (Banks) Smith. She began her dream career in Aurora, Illinois where she trained as a Nurse’s Aide, specializing in infant care. Her caring heart allowed her to treasure and delight in the special care she provided for her infant patients. After leaving her profession to marry and raise her own family, she later returned to work as a nanny. As a little girl Lula always dreamed to be a wife, mother and grandmother and with the help of her Lord, her dreams all came true. She and her first husband, Steve, were Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron of the Aurora chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in 1979. She enjoyed supporting her husband’s work in the Masonic Lodge and most especially working in the Clown Club with the Shrine. After her four year travel to become Worthy Matron, she worked the Chairs and held the offices of Secretary Chaplin, Marshal and Warder. Another of her many accomplishments was the publication of a short story, “Robin”, which was chosen to be archived in the International Eastern Star Temple in Washington, D.C. After a genealogical search of her Grandmother’s background, Lula was able to validate her beloved heritage as a Cherokee Native American. From that moment on, “Wing-Wind” proudly carried her card of acknowledgement. Lula is survived by an extended blended family, many caring relatives and a long list of devoted friends. Funeral services for Lula Mae will be 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 22, 2013 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, MO. Visitation will be held 1:00 PM until service time. Burial will be 1:00 PM, Monday, December 23, 2013 in Evening Shadow Cemetery, Horseshoe Bend, AR. Online condolences may be shared at www.barnesfamilyfunerals.com.
