Oliver Wendell Holmes August 21, 1928 - July 29, 2011

Oliver Wendell Holmes, age 82 of Highlandville, passed away Friday, July 29, 2011 in his home. He was born August 21, 1928 the son of Willie and Roma (Kentling) Holmes. On March 27, 1948 he was united in marriage to Breta Anderson. Wendell was a retired Tastyee Bread route salesman and farmer. He had a passion for collecting guns and was a proud member of the National Rifle Association. He was also a dedicated volunteer for the Highlandville Cemetery for over twenty-five years. Wendell enjoyed being outdoors, mowing and caring for his lawn. Wendell is survived by his loving wife Breta; daughter Janie Holmes of Nixa; son Ward Holmes and wife Debbie of Highlandville; brother A.K. Holmes and wife Mary of Branson; one grandson Seth and wife Brandy Wollard; two great-grandchildren Lindsey and Logan; two nephews, and other caring relatives and friends.
