Richard L Bass, age 87 of Fremont Hills, Missouri left this world for his home in paradise, Saturday, July 8, 2023, surrounded by his family. His funeral service will be held Friday, August 11, 2023, at 1:30 pm, with visitation starting at 12:30 pm in Nixa Christian Church, 400 Northview Road, Nixa, Missouri. The service will be followed by burial and Military Funeral Honors at 3:00 pm in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S Southwood Road, Springfield, Missouri. Arrangements by Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, Missouri.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Glenda J Boggs Bass; and their sons Brian Bass (Rebecca) of Fremont Hills, and Brandon Bass (Rena’) of Springfield. Cherishing his memories are his three grandchildren, Lauren, Landon and Brookelynn. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Jewell Bass, brothers Stanley Bass, Sammy Joe Bass and sister Pauline Staley.

Richard was born October 3, 1935, at home in Springfield, Missouri. It was said the doctor was listening to the world series that was on the radio while delivering Richard.

Richard attended Springfield Senior High School (Central High School) where he was involved in high school band, orchestra, and a member of the Springfield Civic Symphony. After high school, Richard joined the United States Marine Corp reserves while working at KTTS radio and television station as an engineer. In 1956 he joined the United States Air Force and was honored to serve his country for four years. It was during those four years that he married his only love and high school sweetheart, Glenda Boggs on December 13, 1958.

Living in Nixa since 1962, they joined the Nixa Christian Church in 1964 where Richard served faithfully as a deacon and elder on many committees as well as Chairman of the board of directors. Richard enjoyed life in general, spending time at the cabin on Table Rock Lake, fishing, skiing and boat riding with Glenda and his family and friends. Richard and Glenda spent many years square dancing with the Kountry Kouzins and made countless lifelong friends. Richard became a sought-after square dance caller and traveled to several States calling dances for several different events and square dance clubs. As his boys grew up and started playing sports in school he and Glenda spent countless hours on the roads going to baseball, basketball games and track meets. In 1984, with Glenda by his side, Richard started Bass Litho Color Inc. as a one-man shop producing color separations and film composition for local and regional printing companies. After nearly working himself to death, he was soon joined by Brian and later Brandon where they both learned the trade but more importantly, learned a great work ethic instilled in them by their father. Over the years, as technology changed, so did the business. Bass Litho Color Inc. changed their name to Bass Print Solutions to better represent their current business. Bass Print Solutions became Springfield first 100% digital printing company producing digital offset printing as well as wide format printing.

Later in life, Richard and Glenda moved to Fremont Hills where he spent many a Saturday playing golf and having fellowship with his friends. He will not only be missed by his own family, but by his church family and all the lives he touched with his grace and humor.

In lieu of flowers, you are invited to contribute to the Nixa Christian Church in his memory or a charity of your choice in his name.
