Roger Lee Kessinger, age 74 of Ozark, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013 in Mercy Hospital, Springfield. He was born September 21, 1938 the son of John Raymond and Lorene (Essick) Kessinger. On January 31, 1964 he was united in marriage to Darlene Tennis. Roger was a longtime resident of Christian County and a self-employed tow truck business owner. He enjoyed being a granddad and entertaining his grandchildren with tow truck rides and blowing his air horns. Roger also shared a love for animals and enjoyed feeding hummingbirds and caring for his dog “Lady.” He loved “Lady” and bought her a sausage biscuit every morning at McDonald’s. Roger will be sadly missed by his family and his faithful furry companion “Lady.” Roger is survived by his wife Darlene; two daughters Wanda Stewart and husband Kevin of Ozark, Joyce Slavens and husband Winson of Chouteau, OK; son Ricky Kessinger; two brothers Ronald Kessinger of Reeds Spring and Ray Dean Kessinger of Ozark; six grandchildren Crystal Heavin and husband Chris, Brooke Michael and husband Jeremy, Rusty Kessinger and wife Della, Brock Kessinger, Kaitlyn Kessinger, and Dalton Slavens; eight great-grandchildren Taylor Michael, Corbin and Cayden Michael, Shayle and Wyatt Heavin, Addyson, Spencer and Casey Kessinger, other caring relatives and several good friends. Roger was preceded in death by his parents and his six year old son, Johnny. The family requests donations to St.Judes P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142 Memphis, TN 38148-0142. Graveside funeral services were 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2013 in Selmore Cemetery with Pastor Ben Dewitt officiating. Visitation was held one hour prior in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark.
