Shirley Jean Brown December 3, 1940 - October 31, 2012

Shirley Jean Brown, age 71 of Sparta, passed away Wednesday, October 31,2012 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born December 3, 1940 the daughter of Herbert and Lula (Johns) Ladd. Shirley was a longtime resident of Sparta and a member of Sparta Church of Christ. Shirley was a devoted daughter, mom and grandma. She enjoyed attending ballgames, rodeos, music concerts and other events with her grandchildren. She was someone you could talk to about anything. She adored her great-granddaughters and they felt the same way. Her kindness and thoughtfulness made those around her feel special and loved. Even in our sorrow we rejoice in her life and the memories we will cherish always. Shirley is survived by three daughters Sherry Phillips, Kristy Parker and husband Melvin all of Sparta, Tammy O’ Brien and husband Donnie of Pineville, MO; one brother Archie Ladd and wife Janet; four grandchildren Angie and Brandon Cowles, Cody and Amanda Phillips, Dustin and Macy Brown and Kortney Parker; two great-grandchildren Paisley Renee Phillips and Zoey Noel Cowles; a special niece Amye Johnson and husband Daniel and a great niece Allye Johnson. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter Gina Renee. Funeral services were 2:00p.m. Sunday, November 4, 2012 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark with Pastor Chuck Eakins officiating. Burial followed in Sparta Cemetery.
